The official program of the convention will begin on Friday, March 17, 2017, with an evening social event with the candidates. The convention’s official business will begin on the morning of Saturday, March 18, 2017. The first vote will begin promptly on Saturday morning with initial results expected to be announced by mid-morning. Should no one candidate received 50% + 1 of the vote, a second round of voting will begin. The process will be repeated until a single candidate receives 50% + 1 of the delegates.
Once the new leader is elected he will be invited to make a statement which will be followed by a social event.
It is important to know that due to the nature of the delegated voting system, it is difficult to provide exact details as to when the voting may conclude. Should a candidate receive 50% + 1 in the first ballot, there will be no additional voting and the day will conclude quickly. Inversely, there may be multiple rounds of voting, thus extending the day into the late afternoon / early evening. Delegates should prepare to spend a full day at the convention to ensure they don’t miss the last most critical vote.
A detailed program for the convention is currently being finalized, which will be posted here once available. All delegates, observers, and members of the media will also receive the finalized program via email. If you have any questions, comments or concerns, please contact us at email@example.com.
During the convention, several of the campaigns will be hosting hospitality suites. These events give supporters and all other interested parties the opportunity to talk with the candidates informally and with other candidate supporters. Information about the time and location of these hospitality suites will be provided here as they become available. If you have any questions, comments or concerns, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
